Can anyone recommend a mold remediation company in the bay area? i live in san francisco and my room has a really bad case of mold. i've researched some companies but i've read both good and bad reviews so i dont know which company to go with this summer to start the remediation. is there anyone who has dealt with a similar situation and found a company that did a wonderful job for a reasonable price in the bay area? please tell me what your experience was like and the quality of work they did. thanks so much!
Would you recommend radon remediation? We have a radon reading of 22.8 pCi/L in our home. Remediation is suggested for a reading of 4 and above. However we have heard that the jury is still out on the link between radon and cancer. We have an estimate to get the work done but are not sure if it's a waste of money. I have read the government's EPA link and that sounds scary. However I'd like some feedback including from those who have had remediation and what their costs were. Thanks.
Why would a fire remediation service send a bill directly to my insurance adjuster? Following a house fire. I hired a nationally known company to clean and attempt to remove the smell. When I asked for an update on the costs to date. They informed that they would only send the bill directly to my insurance adjuster and not through me. Also, they insisted they be present at the first meeting, at my home, with the adjuster. Thanks, dolphinite
What is effective pain remediation for terminal MS? A friend suffers from the terminal phase of MS. Hospice is in charge of his care. The pain remediation is a nurse supplied Morphine in a liquid drop. He has communication difficulty and the nurse is slow to respond. He therefore lays in pain.
What does a Norton message "unable to complete remediation" mean? I got a pop-up window that Norton had detected some items on my computer requiring a reboot to completely take care of. I rebooted and then a pop-up said I needed to reboot again to complete.... after the second reboot..... a Norton pop-up said "unable to complete remediation".... but does this mean and what do I need to do??

GMC Envoy Excessive Wind Noise Remediation? I own a 2005 GMC Envoy XL with the Denali package. I have noticed excessive wind noise at higher speeds or when cross winds are encountered. I have read postings in other forums where other individuals describe the same problem, and Consumer Reports also noted the noise. The sound appears to be coming from the door seals rather than from the windows. I have also read that GM's response to the issue is to label it a "characteristic" of the vehicle. Has anyone had any success in fixing or at least reducing the wind noise? If so would you mind sharing? Thanks.
Gasoline storage tank remediation? A bunch of gas stations in my area have had their gasoline storage tanks dug up and replaced. Why is this being done? Just curious - I suspect that the previous ones were metal and there's an EPA-mandated replacement cycle? Or is the replacement triggered by the detection of a leak?
Mold/crawlspace remediation? I have some mold growth on the floor joists under my home in the crawl space. There is a dusting of something on the insulation. Whether this be actual dust or mold is undetermined. The bottom line: I can not afford professional mold remediation. I have no vapor barrier in my crawlspace which obviously needs to be put down. How much do I need to cover? 90%, 100%, up the sides of my concrete and brick block? What about radon gases? I need to KILL the existing mold with some product. I am hesitant to add more water by adding a bleach and water mix that is not a mold killer. PLEASE help me find a list of EPA approved mold killers. I have searched the EPA website to no avail. Do I need to replace the insulation or just spray to kill? I know these questions are hard to answer without pictures. I intend on placing a dehumidifier since I do live in the south. I have considered using vinegar to spray with a garden sprayer. HELP! Professionals answers welcome

the most polluted areas in cities typically are located near the poorest parts: who will advocate remediation? many of the most polluted parts of large cities are also located in and adjacent to the poorest parts. these districts often lack adequate representation in city councils. there are exceptions and they are wonderful. but on the whole, without someone to push for remediation, and considering that they will be among the least desirable for redevelopment due to their location, will these brownfields ever be cleaned? who will advocate, are there any groups or individuals that specialize in giving these urban hotspots the voice that they need? rico3151 - that is exactly the kind of activism that is needed (but working on your motivational skills would do wonders.)
having to take a remediation course? this summer i have to take a remediation course for geometry. i had a D average and i just found out that i failed to SOL (like the final). How do I get licensed as an property claims adjuster? Also, can I get CAT certified without adjusting experience? I have 2 years (average 50 hour weeks) in Water and mold remediation. I have my WTR, CMT, and 24 Hazwoper certificates and I am very familiar with Xactimate as I am the Chief Estimator and assistant GM for a Servicemaster Franchise. Thanks!
Mold in basement>10 sq ft: can we just remove paneling, or need to have it tested first? How much $$$? Areas of mold (black and some gray) in a basement that flooded three times this spring. We're working to fix the water problem. We're planning to remodel anyway, so the old paneling isn't a big loss, but I don't want to release tons of mold spores into the air if they're toxic. My inclination is to hire an independent testing lab, find out what type of mold we have, then use their remediation plan to hire a contractor to deal with it. Are we likely to have to clean it up first and THEN remove the damaged areas? Or is removal itself a viable means of solving the problem? Can a regular contractor do this? How much should I expect the testing to cost? If we're not suffering from any clearly related physical problems now (it's been there for months, I'd guess), will we need to vacate the house while remediation takes place? My husband wants to just hire a regular demolition crew to pull the paneling out, but I'm not comfortable going that route. Informed opinions appreciated.
I live in a condo Recently there was a water leak in the common wall-? The Homeowners association said they will put back the dry wall, but will not repair any of my floors, custom painting or any other interior finishes. They repaired the leak and had a mold remediation co. take out all the damaged walls, baseboards, door frames. The leak was in a common wall that services water to the unit living above the garage. The Property Management and the Association Board said that they will not repair or pay for finishing in either my unit or the next door neighbor that was affected. Is there a way to fight this...I need help...Thanks you!
What can schools do to help children reach their potential? A few days ago, the question was asked "What can parents do to help children reach their potential in school?" As a parent of an above average child who with a reading disability, I've found that the best remediation for the population of struggling readers is a multisensory reading program such as Orton-Gililingham or Wilson. I've also found many schools nationwide offer NOTHING for these kids! Many of these children will turn to a life of crime and many are suicidal! The National Institute of Health has conducted many many years of studies on Dyslexia and has found that one in five Americans suffer from this disorder. Also they have found a difference between a dyslexic brain and a "normal brain". There is also studies saying that with early detection and proper remediation, the problem can be fixed! Any suggestions to pursuade our schools would be helpful!
How can I get a contractor to work on a house? I inherited a rather large Victorian style house. It is in desperate need of maintenance such as roofing, trim repair and painting, asbestos remediation, wiring and plumbing. I've called just about every contractor in the phone book or in the local trades. Most of them don't even return my calls, and the ones I am able to reach directly are either too busy, don't service my area or don't do residential work (I wish they would say that in their ads). I also tried Service Magic, but the few that did respond to my inquiries gave very high estimates - like one that wanted $18,000 to do one area of the roof. I think $1,800 would be a lot for one dormer! Like I sais, some things need immediate attention. What is a good way to get a reliable contractor?
Who do you call to determine mold in a rental home and under a lease agreement? I have turned in a work sheet containing repairs that need to be done at my rental home I live in each month w/ my rent payment but, to no avail nothing has been fixed on my home rental and there is mold in my foyer guest bath. The property manager told me there was mold remediation done to this house 3 years ago in the duct system. In any event my family stays sick and we are ready to move. What are the laws here.I pay a heap of rent for my 2 story 2500 square foot home. That was promised to be in tip top shape and repairs made by realtor in charge of property management.I have been informed owners will not pay for nothing. So manager told me she would pay for repairs personally.
